Who wrote plastic hearts9/26/2023 Plastic Hearts processes Cyrus’s divorce in much the same way Cyrus has processed lots of things before-with a defiant embrace of how she’s being perceived. From the outside, as the gossip media’s reaction conveyed, it had the feeling of prophecy fulfilled: Hollywood girl experiences a Hollywood marriage. From the inside, as Cyrus’s excellent breakup single “Slide Away” communicated, the split with Hemsworth was not easy. “I wore a dress on my wedding day because I felt like it, I straightened my hair because I felt like it,” Cyrus, America’s most out-and-proud pansexual, wrote in an open letter afterward, “but that doesn’t make me become some instantly ‘polite hetero lady.’” Just eight months after the wedding, she and Hemsworth separated-right around the time she was spotted cuddling with the reality star Kaitlynn Carter. In December 2018, her years-long, on-again, off-again relationship with the actor Liam Hemsworth culminated in marriage. It follows a period in her life that was especially exciting for the tabloids. Cyrus’s rowdy new album, out last Friday, is one of her stronger provocations. She has, instead, seemed to become more Miley with every phase, and by flipping her finger to the public, she’s only drawn more interest. She has never really bothered with countering the criticism. As she morphed from kid’s TV idol into tongue-wagging pop provocateur in the early 2010s-and then, across the decade, spent time as art punk, queer activist, and demure folkie-she has been ridiculed as excessive, desperate, fickle, insensitive, immature, and bad at twerking. It’s basically everyone-because for the general public, people like Cyrus exist as examples of what fame does to a human life.Ĭyrus knows by now that the concept of Miley Cyrus can’t be separated from the expectations that have followed her since tweendom (and maybe even before, as the daughter of the country star Billy Ray Cyrus). It’s the casual fan and casual hater, the pundits and influencers, and the friends and rivals. It’s the actual audience of Hannah Montana who tracked Cyrus into adulthood. It’s the imagined audience of Hannah Montana, the fictional pop star Cyrus portrayed in her early teens on the Disney Channel. But who’s the “they”? It’s you, the listener. She’s apologizing to a lover she let down. “I’m everything they said I would be,” Miley Cyrus sings, her voice dewy with disappointment, on her new album, Plastic Hearts.

Fish barney miller9/26/2023 Barney explains that Fish needn’t converse with him, but Fish tries anyway, suggesting that the weather predicts… To be fair, he’s been busy all day, but it’s still amusing to see his childlike patriotism frustrated and disappointed when he asks to buy some.Īt the end of a busy day, Barney and Fish have a quiet moment among two friends. The code for what she’s really selling is obvious to everyone except for Wojo. Franklin’s assaulter, Tracy Gifford, is “selling buttons for charity” for sixty dollars. A show that so often highlights issues for the one-two’s customers by getting inside their heads, it’s funny to see things through the point of view of another class of officer, in this case, another class of horse owner as well. Barney manages to put out that fire as he negotiates with Officer Shriker the loan of the horse to Fuzzo. It turns out the salesman is also an ex-Marine, so Wojo lets him go as an embarrassment to the uniform.įuzzo’s horse stolen, he takes extreme measures to acquire a new one he robs the NYPD’s mounted division, angering one of the mounted finest. There’s a similarly self-satisfied performance here as he enjoys Wojo’s discomfort, even if it means he endures some physical discomfort. In that show, a parody of soap operas, he played a “sexy” cop that comes on to the title character, who herself was in an unfulfilling marriage. Ironically this character is played by Bruce Solomon, who played Sergeant Dennis Foley on Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman. There’s even a flag on the rear of his jeans, so Wojo won’t let him sit down. Fuzzo, whose horse was stolen!īarney informs Wojo that the Supreme Court has ruled flag-emblazoned clothing to be protected speech, but Wojo decides to check the flag salesman for priors. His other case is one in which a handsome cab driver, a Mr. Wojo fields two cases, one of an enthusiastic patriot who sells wares, and wears wares, all of which have the American flag on them. Fish encounters the League of Frightened Voters are throwing tea off of Pier 10-how prescient! Harris makes twelve arrests and witnesses the mayor out of luck with a broke-down limo and no cab fare. Franklin, by a prostitute, but he’s in denial. When he goes to investigate he finds a case of assault on a man, Mr. Chano receives a call about protesters…who want rooms at the hotel. I suppose this took place several months in the future as this episode takes place during a particularly hectic bicentennial celebration.

It trims neatly and closely, clearing even very tough and thick hairs with ease and speed. As such, this cordless, battery-operated grooming device is engineered to cut from the top, middle, and bottom. The top is actually a patent-pending design featuring a 360-degree beveled blade system. Undoubtedly, the bulbous protrusion may give you pause but don’t worry, it’s surprisingly unobtrusive in action. Need to trim an especially coarse or dense thicket in your ears or nostrils? This model from ConairMAN parts ways with the conventional nozzle-style tips you’ll find on many trimmers and blazes its own trail with a distinctive mushroom-like top. W hy it made the cut:A good all-arounder that trims at all angles. Best for heavy growth: ConairMAN BatteryPowered EarNose Trimmer It’s not an expensive device and it won’t give you the same kind of performance as some higher-end models, but that’s not a big deal if you only need to trim occasionally. There’s also a dual-position guide for short to medium eyebrow trimming (tip: always proceed with caution around your eyebrows so your facial expression isn’t permanently surprised until they grow out.) You can use it wet or dry and easily trim nose and ear hairs, as well as other pesky growths around your neck and sideburns. It includes a starter alkaline battery to power it. The kit includes a few detachable heads to clean up edges, eyebrows, noses, and necklines. This battery-operated, multifunctional trimmer offers the reliability you would expect from a company that has pioneered electric clippers and trimmers for a century-without being too flashy. Wahl is a brand that has been kicking around old-school barbershops (and hipster barbershops) since 1919 and that longevity comes with a good reason. W hy it made the cut: A cutting-edge trimmer from a classic barbershop brand. Best value: Wahl Ear, Nose, & Brow Trimmer Clipper Ultimately, you don’t need to freak out if you accidentally drop it in a bubble bath and you can clean it easily for good hygiene, but in real life, you probably don’t want to use it in a swimming pool if you ever hope to get invited to another pool party. You can use it dry or wet for a quick touch-up in the shower thanks to an IPX7 waterproof rating, which means it can be submerged for up to 30 minutes in meter-deep water. With a 23-degree angle to match the contours of the nose and ear more precisely, there’s a 9,000 RPM motor powering the 360-degree, dual-edge blade system, which also works relatively quietly. The ceramic blades take a different shape than traditional stainless options, which makes them less prone to snags and nicks. Even though it will last for up to 90 minutes of use, you’ll only actually need a few minutes to get the job done, so it’s good for several go-arounds. This modern trimmer strikes a solid balance of performance, comfort, and convenience, including a 600mAh rechargeable li-ion battery you charge with a USB cable and AC adapter. Why it made the cut: It ticks all the boxes for good-looking and easy to use. Best nose hair trimmers: Reviews & Recommendations Best overall: Manscaped Weed Whacker Nose and Ear Hair Trimmer And, while you’re not going to spend hours trimming your nose hairs, reliable battery life is a nice perk for keeping it quick and easy when you do. We’ve also opted for models without a ton of attachments that can get lost or be annoying to assemble. The top factors for choosing a trimmer are safety, ease of use, and design. You can definitely find nose trimmers costing more than $75, but we’ve narrowed our list to the $50 and under price point since you can find a perfectly acceptable option for less than $20. Most nose trimmers have the added benefit of doubling as an ear hair trimmer or detailer for other delicate areas.

Kevin and I did this enhancement on an episode of Salesforce Developer Code Live, which you can find here. Thanks to Kevin Poorman ( for its contribution to the idea of showing the test coverage in a sidebar panel for easier reference. If you would like to suggest a feature, create a feature request on GitHub. To report issues with Salesforce Extensions for VS Code, open a bug on GitHub. This is not an issue of this extension, but rather something related with the retrieval of the coverage by the SFDX standard extension. For big projects, with lots of classes and tests, the SFDX extension sometimes does not retrieve all code coverage for all the classes, so it is possible that you will only see coverage for certain classes while other classes will show no coverage. This extension cannot show coverage for classes if the coverage for those classes is not retrieved. This extension depends on the code coverage information retrieved from SFDX using the standard SFDX extensions for code. It is possible to know what test classes and methods are contributing to the overall coverage percentage of a class by expanding the chevron icon on the right of the class: The sidebar also allows to filter down the classes by clicking on the commands on the title bar: The coverage side panel shows by default on the Test view, but it is possible to move it to any other place inside the Visual Studio Code layout: It is possible that the tests you write might contrigute to the coverage of other classes that are not in your project, by default the coverage viewer shows only classes that are present on the current project, but you can disable this and show all other classes as well. Also, it is posible to filter further down on the name of the apex file: It is possible to filter down the test results to show only tests that are below the required 75% coverage, to allow the developer to focus on those tests that require inmediate action. You can get to this window by either clicking on the coverage indicator on the status bar, or by executing the SFDX: Show Code Coverage from the command palette: You can see three indicators, depending on the coverage percentage: Coverage The indicator in the status bar will only appear if the Apex class has tests coverage downloaded for such class. Once the test coverage has been downloaded by the Salesforce CLI, you can now see the code coverage for a specific Apex file in the status bar, and also the overall code coverage in a new window: Coverage in Status Bar To do this, go to Visual Studio Code menu File->Preferences->Settings and enter "coverage" in the search box, and then from the search results enable the Retrieve-test-code-coverage setting:Īfter that, just execute some tests as you normally would from the Test view: Make sure you have configured the preferences on the Salesforce extension to retrieve code coverage on test execution. The extension relies on the official Salesforce Extensions test runner which creates the necessary files used to show the code coverage. This extension shows a summary of the code coverage for all APEX classes in the current project. Salesforce APEX Code Coverage Visualizer for Visual Studio Code Introduction

With the exception of his gardener Sam Gamgee, who had agreed to accompany him to Rivendell, Frodo told the other Hobbits of the Shire that he intended to move to Buckland. Merry helped Frodo to purchase a small house at Crickhollow. This rumor, though not begun by Frodo, was encouraged by him. Realizing that Sauron would be looking for the Ring, Gandalf advised the Hobbit to secretly follow Bilbo's journey to Rivendell.Īfter Frodo's discussion with Gandalf, a rumor started that he was running out of money. However, on April 12, 3018, Gandalf returned to Bag End and warned Frodo that the Ring was actually the One Ring, which the Dark Lord Sauron needed to rule over Middle-earth. For the next seventeen years, Frodo complied with the wizard's request and hid the Ring in a safe place. Gandalf, ever more curious about the Ring's origin, power, and purpose (but not yet positive it was the One Ring), advised the young hobbit against the using the Ring. "The Inheritance", by Raoul Vitale Coming of age & flight from the ShireĪfter the party finished, Frodo returned home and discovered that he was now the master of Bag End and the recipient of Bilbo's magic Ring. Bilbo left it on the fireplace mantel with a note for Frodo, who would now become the next Ring-bearer. The hobbits at the party were left confused and disgruntled, and Bilbo was never again seen in the Shire.įrodo with Bilbo during his 111th birthdayīefore departing for his journey to Rivendell, Bilbo was persuaded by Gandalf to voluntarily surrender the One Ring. The two shared the same birthday, September 22 by Shire Reckoning (around September 12–14 of our calendar), and a party of special magnificence was held when Frodo came of age of thirty-three and Bilbo achieved the notable age of 111.īilbo gave a memorable birthday speech before playing a joke on his fellow hobbits by using the One Ring to disappear, at which Gandalf quickly reacted and used his staff to create a blinding flash where Bilbo had been standing. They also had a weekly tradition of taking long walking trips together from Hobbiton to Michel Delving and Buckland all throughout the Shire. The two grew very close in the following years Frodo, treated by his adopted guardian as he were his own son, learned much of the Elvish language during his time with Bilbo, as well as much of the lore of Middle-earth. Bilbo took Frodo to live with him in his home at Bag End and made him his heir. An only child, Frodo stayed in Brandy Hall until his 99-year-old "uncle" Bilbo, his father's second cousin, adopted him in TA 2989. In TA 2980, when Frodo was only 12 years old, his parents drowned in a boating accident on the Brandywine River. They would often steal mushrooms from Farmer Maggot's farm Bamfurlong. Frodo was known as something of a rascal, befriending Meriadoc (Merry) Brandybuck and Peregrin (Pippin) Took and causing trouble wherever they went. Much of Frodo's youth was spent at Brandy Hall in Buckland, the ancestral home of the Brandybuck family, including his mother ( Primula Brandybuck). 5.1 Ralph Bakshi's The Lord of the Rings.1.2 Coming of age & flight from the Shire.

Stickies app mac9/26/2023 OK… right now… select this sentence by dragging your pointer over the words. For this to work, I am assuming you are reading this article on your modern Mac. I'll give you one example of Stickies' utility, particularly if you're someone who does a lot of research on the web. There are so many ways to use Stickies to enhance your workflow. You can make lists, and include graphics. You can have as many sticky notes as you want, in different colors and text formatting. The basic idea is that whatever you type in a sticky note is automatically saved, and notes appear either "pinned" to your desktop or floating in front of other application windows – even across multiple reboots. If you find Stickies as handy as I do, consider keeping it on the Dock and/or have it open automatically at login. Open Stickies it's in the Applications folder. Let's take a closer look at the Stickies app. I use both the paper and the virtual varieties all the time. The "Stickies" name comes from the fact that this app mimics the real-life "sticky notes." You know, the yellow paper ones you keep your passwords on and stuck onto your Mac's screen. Yet, Stickies has evolved in functionality to what it is today under Mountain Lion. Stickies has been around for years – it's older than the hills. Stickies is yet another one of these unpretentious treasures that patiently wait in your Applications folder for you to discover. The Stickies application is located in the Applications folder. We'll focus on this last one: Stickies, the app. Apple gives us no less than six distinct methods of creating notes: The Notes app (new in Mountain Lion), the Mail Notes feature (in Lion), TextEdit (for more than just notes), the Keychain Access utility for creating secure notes, the Stickies Dashboard Widget, and the Stickies app. Problems they are trying to solve are served perfectly well by these freebies. However, I find that once Mac users discover the built-in apps, they are delighted to learn that they need not spend any more of their hard-earned money for the alternative apps. A lot of third-party developers repurpose and enhance the functionality delivered by these Apple apps. Other apps – most being quite useful – are out-of-view and inside the Applications folder, the Utilities folder and elsewhere. Some are obviously available via the Dock by default. Clicking it again will return the note to its original size.In past articles here on TMO, I have enjoyed pointing out and discussing the free applications that are included with every new Mac. If you just want to make it the size of the screen, you can click the little triangle icon in the upper right corner of the note. Change note size – You can either click and drag each corner of the note to grow it or make it smaller.Make a note transparent ( semi ) – Click Window, now click Translucent. If you want to group notes together – Click Window, Arrange by, now choose your option. This is the simple action of just dragging a note you want to view manually. View note information – Just hover with the mouse courser over the note title to display info like when it was created and more.To collapse or expand a note, just double click the title bar of the note.To make a specific note always on top – Click Window and then Float on top.The View option inside the Stickies app provides a lot of options in terms of viewing and organizing the notes. |
